The TextUrgy team: Min He (Software Developer), Yngve Ødegaard (Chief Technical Officer), and inventor Brit Helle Aarskog (Chief Scientific Officer)

TextUrgy was established December 2007, by a researcher from UNI Digital together with BTO. The company product – the program TextUrgy – is a new program and method for fast retrival of exact information for search in large documents. The program is a semantic indexing engine which delivers a thematic presentation of the content.

THEMATIC FILTERING AND NAVIGATION
The core of the TextUrgy technology is a semantic indexing engine which makes it possible to integrate tools into existing information systems which greatly improves in the way users retrieve data. After indexing has been completed the index structure contains information about all the terms in the source texts classifi ed into fi ve general classes. The terms are also given a ranking value which is based on both semantic- and statistical information. This makes it possible to list for example all persons and organizations in a text collection and provide information about the different activities they pertain in. The indexing engine handles ambiguity and is therefore also able to further classify the terms according to thematic areas making it possible to navigate text collections (e.g. a result set) on a more general level. This type of navigation works very well in combination with keyword search engines.
