LTL Nor AS
With increasing focus on utilizing plants and wood as fuel, various technologies that can produce ethanol from wood are now in the process of being developed.
At the University of Bergen, a research group has developed a method of one step conversion of solid lignin to liquid products. Patents are developed by Dr. Mike Kleinert and Professor Tanja Barth.
Based on this “Lignin to liquid” process, LTL Nor AS was established spring 2009. This one-step process provides qualitative turnover of lignin to biofuel. The LTL Nor technology is the leading method in the conversion of lignin to liquid in a one-step process.
The company’s next step is large scale construction. At the moment, the company is in the process of building a pilot plant in Germany. LTL Nor has already experienced considerable international interest for their technology. They are in contact with major chemical companies that are interested in participating, and with oil companies looking for products that potential for biofuels.
