Fish Flow Meter®
Invention
The MMC Fish Flow Meter® is a system that can measure the total weight of fish pumped through a water-filled pipe. The technology has been developed and patented by Christian Michelsen Research (CMR). The sensor has no moving parts and is simply installed between the fish pump and the water separator. The only user action required is to select the fish type being pumped using a touch screen. The CMR Fish Flow Meter® is currently the only system available that can measure the total mass of fish pumped in board fishing vessels. The meter is now commercially available from MMC Tendos www.mmctendos.no
Applications
In Norway alone, several hundred fishing vessels can buy and use the system. The potential market increases dramatically with potential world-wide sales. Extension to use in well boats and processing plants can double the potential market.
Advantages
The CMR Fish Flow Meter® is currently the only system available that can measure the total mass of fish pumped in board fishing vessels. The meter is now commercially available from MMC Tendos www.mmctendos.no
Preliminary spesifications
In the preliminary specification the uncertainty in the total quantity of fish pumped is ± 3 % of reading or 2 tons (95 % confidence level). The Fish Flow Meter® has been tested with fish flow rates of up to 1000 ton/hour.
